History of the Health Services District Sales Tax

In 1987 the voters of Pointe Coupee approved a 10-year, ½ of 1% sales tax to fund the operations of the Pointe Coupee Parish Health Services District № 1. In 1997 the District’s board recognized that the ½ of 1% exceeded the its needs and asked for a reduction from ½ to ¼ of 1% to fund the operations of the Health Services District. The voters passed the 10-year ¼ of 1% tax in 1997 and again in 2006.
