Paul B. Rachal, MD

Family Practitioner

Dr. Rachal, an LSU School of Medicine graduate, has been practicing since December of 1991. He is a physician with Our Lady of the Lake Physician Network and a staff physician at Pointe Coupee General Hospital. He is a Family Practitioner, a Kid Med provider, and is a Board Certified physician.

Since finishing medical school, Dr. Rachal has seen medicine evolve and feels it is now concentrating more on preventive care. He believes a great doctor is a “good diagnostician, compassionate and a good listener who is backed by a great staff.”

Three important parts of Dr. Rachal's life are family, faith and patient care. “My wife and children are very important to me. My faith helps me make it through each day and helps in taking care of my patient's physical, emotional and spiritual health.”

A health tip Dr. Rachal always advises, “Begin each day with a prayer and exercise. Eat healthy, always eat breakfast and eat foods high in omega3s several times a week.”

Dr. Rachal is a LSU fan who enjoys spending time with his family. Some of his hobbies include: hunting, fishing, cooking, traveling and exercising. On the musical side he enjoys singing and playing the guitar and drums. He is also involved with teaching medical students from LSU and Tulane and welcoming them to the community. He is a AHEC member and works with high school students and college students with their medical career decision making.

In 2012, Dr. Rachal was selected as the Louisiana Family Physician of the year. This prestigious award is presented by the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians.

His office is located in our Sisters of St. Joseph Medical Plaza.
