2020 Blood Drive

Every 2 seconds someone in the United States needs blood and 1 donation can potentially save up to 3 lives. Blood donors can give every 56 days and platelet donors can give every 7 days.

To find future convalescent plasma donors, Vitalant is testing all blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies. Donors will also receive a Waitr face mask and free delivery gift card from Waitr!

All donors at this time are being asked to wear a protective face covering for their entire donation process. Donor's temperature will be checked before entering; donors who are feeling ill or have a temperature above 99.6°F will not permitted to enter. Surfaces are cleaned before and after each donor. Please do not attempt to donate if you know you have been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

Vitalant is testing every completed donation for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. If your blood tests positive, you may be able to give a future convalescent plasma donation to help patients fighting this disease. Do not donate if you are sick or are awaiting SARS-CoV-2 swab testing results to explain a recent illness. This antibody test does not test for the presence of COVID-19 disease.

In preparation for your blood donation, consider the following:

  • Avoid bringing a guest unless they also have a blood donation appointment.

  • Children under 4 years of age cannot enter. Children over age 4 will also be screened.

  • Bring your own blanket if you typically use one during the donation process.

  • Please check the revised eligibility criteria.

Please bring a photo ID and your donor card to your appointment (if this is your first time donating with Vitalant, bring a photo ID). Eat a low fat meal and make sure you drink plenty of liquids prior to your donation. If you are donating platelets, please do not take aspirin (or any medication containing aspirin) within 48 hours prior to your donation.
