Pointe Coupee General Hospital is continuing to implement the latest and most comprehensive technology by recently upgrading our cardiac monitoring system. We now proudly use Nihon Kohden’s most advanced Life Scope® Central Station wireless monitoring system and 6000 series bedside monitors which are designed to deliver smart, safe, and secure capabilities in the management of patient care without compromise.

 

The Central Nursing Station offers multiple review windows, plus the ec1 arrhythmia analysis software helps reduce false alarms without compromising patient safety.

The 6000 series bedside monitors offer unrivaled technology such as comprehensive arrhythmia detection, ST segment analysis as well as diagnostic 12 lead ECG capability, and drug/hemodynamic/pulmonary calculations.

 

This full-featured system offers increased functionality and usability to ensure critical data is always available for each patient throughout their hospital stay. With this latest technology upgrade, PCGH continues to meet the special healthcare needs of our rural community by providing the highest quality and most comprehensive care.

PCGH Hosts AHEC for the Eighteenth Year

The A-HEC of a Summer program is an exciting opportunity for ninth, tenth and eleventh grade students with at least a 2.0 GPA who are interested in pursing a healthcare career. These students are given a chance to explore different career opportunities in medicine by volunteering at local hospitals. During the fifteen-day period in June, the students rotate through various hospital departments and job shadow practicing healthcare professionals.

Pointe Coupee General Hospital Wound Care Clinic treats patients with non-healing wounds that require an advanced level of care. Wounds typically treated at the clinic include those that are especially difficult to heal, such as diabetic, venous, and pressure ulcers. Internal injuries will also be treated at the wound clinic, including the late effects of radiation, osteomyelitis, and crush injuries.

After 11 years of service as the Pointe Coupee General Hospital’s Director of Nursing, Chief Nursing Officer, Elaine Hurme, PhD has retired effective December 2015. Hurme was a tremendously effective director who spearheaded numerous changes to improve the overall deliverance of health care at PCGH.

The Trauma Nurse Certification Course (TNCC) is designed to teach core level knowledge, refine skills, and build a firm foundation for the treatment of the severely injured patient.

Pointe Coupee General Hospital’s Nursing Staff, Physicians and Respiratory Therapists recently completed certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). This two-day course requires passing a written exam and skills test in order to receive an ACLS Course Completion Certification.
