Department Spotlight: Emergency Department

The Pointe Coupee General Hospital Emergency Department continually strives to ensure that those seeking emergent treatment receive the best care possible. Currently the department treats over 1000 patients per month. A physician staffs the department 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Licensed nursing personnel assigned to the Emergency Department must be ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Course Certification) certified.

The department presently offers TeleStroke with other telemedicine options and services pending. All of the nursing documentation is computerized and the medication dispensing system is in keeping with current health delivery trends.
